Bracknell
Bracknell was designated as a New Town on 17 June in 1949. Situated 30m west of London and with an area of 1,337 ha (3,303 acres), the town has established itself as a major employment centre, and is within the Thames Valley corridor.
The surrounding area includes Windsor Castle, Ascot racecourse, Henley on Thames and Legoland (situated on the site of Windsor Safari Park).
Travel and transport
Bracknell is located close to the M4 and M3 motorways and a short distance from London Heathrow airport.
Employment
Local employers include Siemens ICL, Johnson & Johnson Medical, Hewlett Packard, Panasonic, BMW and 3M.
Population
The population of Bracknell new town (not including Bracknell Forest) was 52,243 in the last Census report dated 2001.

English Partnerships is working with Bracknell Town Council and the Bracknell Town Centre Regeneration Partnership to facilitate its redevelopment.
We are currently involved in the following project in Bracknell:
- RAF Staff College (The Parks): English Partnerships has acquired the former RAF Staff College from Defence Estates as part of an ongoing strategy to make best use of surplus property assets by increasing co-operation between public agencies.
