29/10/2008 | Network Rail to create National Centre in Milton Keynes
Network Rail have signed an agreement with Milton Keynes Partnership, securing a site for the development of its new, state-of-the-art National Centre in Milton Keynes.
Network Rail is planning to build the new centre on the site of the former National Hockey Stadium adjacent to the citys mainline railway station. The centre will provide office space for a number of Network Rails key national functions that are presently based at various locations across the country.
John Lewis, Chief Executive of Milton Keynes Partnership said: Network Rails decision to commit to this major investment in Milton Keynes is a real boost to business confidence in the city. We will continue to work closely with Network Rail and MK Council to support the successful delivery of this exciting opportunity.
The exact details of the scheme and schedule for the development will be finalised in spring 2009.
