Stone House, Dartford
Background
Formerly a Victorian asylum, all of the buildings on the 6.1 ha Stone House Hospital site are Grade II listed, surrounded by open spaces and mature parkland.
English Partnerships plans to deliver a residential-led development comprising around 260 properties, with approximately 30% allocated as affordable housing.
English Partnerships is working with Dartford Borough and Kent County Councils to ensure the new neighbourhood includes community facilities, good transport links and public open spaces, and that much of the existing landscape and trees are retained.
Current Status
The search for a development partner is underway with the shortlisting process concluding in November. Developers have been invited to submit proposals that demonstrate a commitment to construction and energy efficiency, sustainability and experience of community engagement. The preferred developer will be announced in early 2008 and their first task will be to prepare a masterplan for Stone House Hospital site jointly with English Partnerships.
